It was one of those moments
locked in an instant;
where our faces met, in the
reflection within

solidifying cup of chocolate.
smoke sylphed off the rim,
Leaped exuberant,
Waxed ethereal...

Then condensed-
And thawed.
You supped the dregs and left
me waiting for a different brew
to fill this empty mug.

omg sharon i love this! hm i can't pinpoint exactly why, I think it's the mood it evokes. and I really like the alliteration in "smoke sylphed". Makes it seem like smoke and sylphing is synonymous and seamless and... okay i should stop alliterating.

except is chocolate that reflective? or does it tend more towards opacity?

LOL thanks, you aren't doing badly alliterating yourself! Hmm i think it was meant to be something like an anti-climax or inversion of the 'ol romantic picture portrayed in the 1st stanza. like the reality of chocolate's opaqueness hits you in the second - wait a moment, the expression isn't what i'm experiencing. etc, etc. hope that sounds logical heh
